Mills of Baldernock
In times gone by, tenant farmers were thirled to a particular mill, which meant that the grain they produced had to be ground at that mill. They were obliged to pay the miller.
In Baldernock, there were mills at the Jaw, near Langbank, known as the Mill of Auchenhowie and another at Fluchter in the centre of the parish, which served Bardowie.
The other mill and the only one still remaining is Baldernock Mill, near to Baldernock Parish Church.
